Help with rear hub rotar?

I know this might sound stupid. But I was hoping some of you guys could help me. I was finishing putting my stock axle back in with my new carrier today which is a 400EX . After putting this all back I was putting my rotar hub back on and I noticed it did't wan't to go all the way flush inside the carrier. This left a little part sticking out with a small gap. Is this suppose to be like this or go all the way inside the carrier. If anyone could help me out I would truely appreciate it. Most of all up closeup pictures of your alls rotar and carrier area will really help.
