Ok guys, i have been out of the game about 1 1/2 yrs and now its time to get back in. I have some money saved and have a ton of parts left over from my 250r when it was running. I found an 02 400ex that needs a head gasket and possibly a new shifter fork put in for $550. Or i can start to rebuild my 250r again which was an absolute blast to ride. Which would you do?

This is what i have left off my other 250r: complete front end off my 250r, minus brakes, a 450r swing arm and rear shock for it, wiring harness, rear brake pedal, radiator, and a few other misc parts.

400ex: is absolutely complete with those 2 problems, oh and a dead battery (no big deal)

Sounds like it depends on how much you want to invest. You're still gonna need alot more parts to complete the 250r. You could have the 400 up and running within a week, for probably less than a grand.

The 250r would probably more fun to ride, but less reliable.

forgot to add my brother has a lot of parts also left over from his mods to his 86, such as steering stem, etc. I have about $1500 to work with and if i can get the motor and frame for about $800. I know i can finish the rest close with the other $700. Thats no problem. I even thought about buying the 400ex, fixing and selling it then take the money off of it and put it towards the 250r build. I built my other R for about $3500 but it was all aftermarket minus the shocks and a-arms.

I would definately consider flipping the 400. I would say you could make $500 easy, as long as you got it running good.
