Dear Quad Friends,

Greetings from Croatia.

For the next year our racing team SP MOTO RACING has got few of the FYM TYPHOON 125cc to race. Please help and advice which is the best kit for our TYPHOON 125 to be competetive in the racing in the class 125cc.

the 125 is the worst motor made. toss it out and buy a 90cc and put a 117cc kit on it for about 500.00.... this willl be legal, fast and reliable.

take care

I guess you get the Fym manual shift engine in Croatia like we do in Noway.

Head mods, better exhaust, carb and suspention.Let me know if you want links to pit bike part shops in Sweden and Norway.

Thank you guys for the advice.
Yes we decided that we will get TYPHOON 90cc and fit with the 117 kit plus extra goodies. And for typhoon 125cc which we already have we will put on TB 30/23.5mm Race Heed Kit with new valves ,performance cam TB 300 Race head cam and Mikuni VM26 OEM Carb. I think that they will work well for racing.

Any further advices or suggestions will be more appreciated.

That TB 30/23.5 head is wayy to big for a 125. The ports are quite big for our 150 so I can imagine it would kill the performance on a 125. We lost bottom end because of this once it was installed but the mid range is sick. Instead get the Lifan 27/23 head and a VM26 carb.

If your series has no stipulations other than being under 125cc dump the semi auto motor and get a full manual shift 125. You can get a complete motor for around $300 and have extra money to get the VM26 Mikuni carb and the Lifan 27/23 head. If you're not allowed to run a full manual shift get the 117 kit.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your help. I very much appreciate it.
I'm sorry my ignorance but 'til now we only race on the 2t and 4t is new to me in the smaller classes.
We have 2 classes; one is 4t 125cc and the other one is 4t 150cc there is no restriction you can race either manual or semi-auto or full automatic.
As far as I understand our Typhoon 125 engine can't be use successfully for the racing even with some kit on? Which LIFAN complete motor with Lifan Head 27/23 you suggest I buy?
Which full manual shift 125 you suggest to buy?

Thanks

JOE

Lifan, YX, GPX, they all will fit and all have their quirks. I currently have two Lifan 150's for my son and we ran those stock this season. Both will be built for racing in for next season. I have heard the GPX 125's are very durable motors and if you're going to stay in that cc size that's a good setup to look at. Call the guy that Nordic Quad put the link to above he'll lead you in the right direction. Tell him Rob said you need a nice durable 125cc power plant and everything you need for it to compete and he'll hook you up with everything you need ;) . His name is Vince...

Some engines a bit closer to home to you.Shipping a engine(20kg++)from US to Croatia may be costly.
