when my bike is cold and warming up it seems like it is backfiring threw the carb or something. could this be from my jetting being off? any help?? also what do yall think about the edelbrock carbs?

How can you tell if it's backfiring through the carb? I think mine might be doing the same.

Just warm it up a bit before you ride, you should be fine. If it's in the 30's-40’s mine starts good but needs to warm up a minuet or two, then it runs fine.

I was fighting the same thing recently on my stock '05. The previous owner removed the stock spark arrestor and installed a billet tip but that was all that was done. It ended up liking a 42 pilot, 150 main, and 2 1/4 turns out on the pilot screw. I am guessing you would have to go bigger on your main considering you have a slip on.
