440 kit or a 460 stroker is pretty much all you have left engine wise. What does your suspension setup look like? A new suspension will make you fell like you have more power because you can ride faster and harder than you could before.

I have 450r front shocks but the rear is stock....should i adjust it to be stiffer?

i have the same setup pretty much but i have a stage 2 cam, there is a guy on here that has made some +3 timing keys, i havent put mine in yet but from what i heard it makes a good difference, as long as you run100octane or higher, also do you want more topend or more bottom end, you can always go one tooth smaller on the front sprocket you will loose a little top end but depending on how u ride u may not use top speed a whole lot. also you can stroke it which will make it a 440, when u buy a stroker crank u have to buy the piston with it tho, where the connecting rod connects to the stroker piston is offset compared to what u have right now, but i heard a lot of good things about doin the 416 stroker, make sure if u do send off the jug for some gt thunder studs, also they do make +1mm kibblewhite valves, ive never seen anybody run those so i cant say for sure if they would benefit your build but i know that trxracer1 would have something to say about those so ask him about that, we got into it awhile back.

Do you need it to be stiffer? Adjust it accordingly. Also, you could send out your shocks to GT Thunder or someone and have them rebuilt to some pretty awesome shocks. People say them compare to Elkas after being rebuilt.

Oh and i am running a stock carb right now...I might want to run an 06 trx 450r carb if it would work or another 40mm fcr...

How much good would the +1mm valves do for me?

a 40mm FCR would be too much for a 416. Your stock carb is 38mm, i would go with a 39mm fcr at the most. FCR's move more air than a standard carb of the same size because they don't have a butterfly to block air. XR's only sells a 36mm FCR and it's supposed to give it more power than stock

the xr'sonly carb looks like its more set up as an oem replacement...thats just my opinion though
sparksracing sells a 39mm kit which (again IMO)would be better on a built motor

Unless you are just in love with your 400, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a 450. Sure, there is built 400s that can beat 450s, but at the end of the day, it's still a 400. If you decided to keep the 400, the reliabilty will start decreasing the hotter you make it. An 04-05 450R carb, port and polish with oversize valves, and more compression would all spice it up, but that money would probably be better spent elsewhere.
