I have a 400ex with

416 big bore kit
11:1 compression piston
stage 3 cam
curtis sparks exhaust
cdi box
k&n and no air box lid
port polished head
and i run 101 octane oxygenated leaded fuel

and i was wondering if the 06-08 450r carb would fit because I really want a FCR carb...and what jetting if it fits. thanks.

why wouldnt it work if it works on everyone elses? i think theres a sticky on jettin them and puttin hot start plug and theres a rubber boot you get from lowes to adapt it, but go for it, everybody says its an awesome upgrade,

oh and i know i sound like a smart ***. not tryin to be but 416 isnt considered a big bore or big bore kit, generally when u say big bore most guys think 440

jessie you're right he's wrong don't worry about it. It should work fine but you MAY run into space issues with the height of the honda FCR. The FCR imo would be the way to go but maybe shoot for a yammi one as its shorter and slightly smaller (39 vs 40mm).....also you'll notice the 39mm is the same size as the ones sparks sells for the 400ex.

ok so the 06 450r carb is to tall? wb the crf450 carbs are they the same size? (width x height)

Ive never seen the Honda installed on a 400ex. I know when I did mine on my Predator the Honda carb (being taller) made for a really tight fit....Im only speculating with the 400. The 06-08 450r carb may/may not be different than the crf carb but it depends on the year of the crf as some of them actually had a 41mm carb. the height should be really similiar between the two.

the yfz carb is usually cheaper on ebay, honestly, and the 450r cable would work.

oh i didnt see what year he was asking about, just get a 04 or 05 and itll fit, and if u really want to take a poll on who calls it a big bore kit we can, who agrees or disagrees

I don't see why it is so important he can call it what he wants and you call it what you want. a 416 is a BIGger bore than stock you know.

From what I understand about the 06 and up carbs is that there flat slide and they can be bored. I don’t know if they are taller then the 05 but I have heard that some people have had to heat up the back of the fuel tank and mold or push in the tank so the carb will fit.

Here is a pic of my 2007 ex with a 05 450 carb installed, and as you can see
it barley fit..

No that’s why I put the pic up so you could see how it fit. If I remember right the stock carb was close to the tank as well. It’s poring rain right now and the bike is in the trailer so I cant check it for you . Sorry

Here is a few more pics if that helps.
