Either of those shocks will be the best you can buy for trial or racing! Elka is a little cheaper than the Axis but works just as well.

its all opinion. both are so good it can't be decided. Go with your gut. Personaly I think elka. Because if you get rebound adjustable, wich you should get with a rear shock, Axis uses a bad rebound adjuster the hogs up shock shaft travel, ware elka uses the screw type adjuster found on the 400ex. But axis has more experience with shocks, because they are a division of penske racing suspension. which builds shocks for all sorts of stuff

The few elka rear shocks I have seen have the little knob adjuster just like axis, maybe they are freaks of natures. One of them blew a freakin line. Blew a hole in the stainless braided line. Never seen it happen before on any shock. I think the axis rear is reasonably priced, more so than the fronts. How much does the elka cost??

I have elka Lt fronts and axis rear and I think the axis rear is a very slight bit plusher than the elkas. Also the axis is much easier to feel the clicks when adjusting the comp and rebound. Though I can say that the elka service I have received so far is impecable. I say this and axis is only about an hour and a half away from my home.

A friend of mine can get me a new Axis rear for $550. I have always run Works shocks because they are good and the $$$. It sounds likt that is a good price. I will order today. Thanks!

Would Axis be that much better in the woods than my Works in front?
