Well first of all, I don't know much about guns. Last time I shot a rifle was about 5 years ago when my father was alive. Im looking to get a little something to mess around with, nothing major and not something that will cost an arm and a leg for ammo. I went to the local academy, and they have a .22/20 guage combo (just switch out the barrel) for like $130.pawn shops are rediculously priced. would this be a good gune to just shoot the shiit with? thanks, neil

never seen anything like that. however a .22lr is fun to have. our local Dicks sporting goods sells some very nice bolt actions for 130, and semi auto for 180. cant go wrong with a .22 though. cheap ammo is amazing lol.

Sounds like a pretty nice combo for the price! If you want to stick with just a .22, can I suggest a Ruger 10/22? It's a 10-shot semi-auto, and the most basic ones are pretty inexpensive- solid gun, well built, and long lasting.

i dont know much about guns ether but i bought a .22 from walmart over the summer for $100. has a 10 shot magazine. funnest thing ever. can shoot for pennies all day. 100 bullets its like 4-5 bucks.

over the winter i'm hoping to build a nice 12 guage tactical shotgun to blow stuff (or people) apart with.

That is a nice combo. But think about how much more fun a semi auto would be over the single shot. Not so much with the 20ga but I mean the .22.
There are lots of cheep .22 semi autos out there to choose from.
Google cheep .22 and then start looking.
As for the 4-5 bucks for the .22 ammo, that’s high for plinkers like Remington gold ammo that goes for $1.59 for a box of 50.
Now some of your match .22 will run $10.00 a box of 50. but I always use the cheep stuff.

i recently got a .22/20 over and under from my grandpa. it seems to be a nice gun but i have not shot it yet. I may never shoot it. It is a bit of an Heirloom then anything. he never shot it either. sorry about that, it looks like a nice Squirrel gun with the .22 on top and the 20 on the bottom to make sure they are dead if you miss with the .22. just make sure you have plenty of space around to shoot cause .22 will travel a long way. I agree on the .22 semi though being more fun, i have a ruger that is a blast with a 50 round banana clip in it. pop pop pop  steve

Yeah that’s a good one; I like the ones with a tubular magazine then the ones with a clip, at least on a rifle. I like the Henry .22 lever guns, they are a little more then the marlin but they are very nice guns. All American made and they were the first repeating rifle ever made. I think the carbine model is about $250.00 but that is twice the price of the marlin.
I have three Henrys but I like the old Remington nylon 66 but they run $350.00 and up.

But if you just want something cheep look at the Ruger 10-22 or the Marlin.

Well there's one that I REALLY want but it's kinda far fetched beings I don't know the namebrand, but it's one my dad had before he passed. Im almost positive the bullets were loaded in a little (tube?, the little long tube that runs parallel to the barrel) and help over 10 for sure. it was a dark color, and it was pump, and the pump was dark brown with ridges in it , it pumped kinda like as shotgun I guess? if anyone just happens to have a few names to what it could be I would really appreciate it...no price limit on that one...thanks, neil

stay away from the 410, there shells are expensive and they don't pack much of a punch.
