The time has finally come for me to put a good system in my '79.. finally, some tunes!!

My delime is this: I dont know how i want to mount everything.

Storage behind the seat is not needed, I have a toolbox.

I have currently aquired..

1- 12" Alpine Type E sub
1- Pioneer 8" sub w/ dual voice coil
1- 2 channel 500w amp
2- 4x6 3 way kenwoods
4- Factory dodge 6x9's from my moms '09 ram.

Along with a Jensen headunit. All of this stuff has been free, and I plan to upgrade the 6x9's asap.

Soo, here's the deal.. I have a standard cab truck, with the above speakers. I can build a box any way I need to, as long as it fits behind the seat.

So if anyone has any ideas, or advice, feel free to hit up paint and show me, or just type it up!

Im excited to finally get some music, and not just listen to the flowmasters anymore. After a year and a half.. its finally getting old. :scary:

Not being argumentative, just tryin to learn, but why don't you mix sub sizes?

And could I run the 12 for lows and the 8 for highs, since it has a dual voice coil?

Like I said, all this was free, so im not complaining either way:)

Build you a nice wedge box behind the seat for the 1 12"

Here was my setup in my old truck.

Box was 2.22 cubic feet ported and tuned to 33hz. Pretty loud for just a little kicker 12"

You can run two different size subs, but you don't want to run them off the same amp. Alot of people will tune the larger diameter subs for the lower bass hertz, and tune the smaller subs for the higher bass hertz. And with one amp, you can't tune separately (effectively anyway). You never want to run a highs through a sub.

Seeing as you have a standard cab truck, I would have a box built for the 1 12". Run it off the amp bridged (positive of one channel, negative of the other). Most amps will have a diagram showing how to do this. Run everything else off the deck.

What does bridging do?

I should probably hunt up an audio forum and start lurking..

Your amp is 500w two channel amp. That means there is 250w per channel. If you bridge the amp, you are sending the full 500w in one direction, instead of splitting it.

www.termpro.com is an excellent car audio forum.

what amp?
what year e series, watt rating?

i build custom stereos for my job, so get me a couple things what kind of truck deminsions at the top of the seat, bottom and under the seat, bench or bucket seats? pm me with them, what is the make model of head unit, with amp out puts if you have them if not i can look them up.

not all amps are bridgeable, most are, some of them if you do you will fry them, so be carefull check before you do.also if i am thinking right the sub in question is only a 250 watt rms sub so i wouldnt bridge that any way unless the gain is turned way down. where are your 6x9 mounted? how old are the kenwoods? if there is any one that has stereo questions i have no problem helping you out just pm me,
Josh
