Silencer Question

How important is the silencer part of the exhaust system? Does it have anything to do with the tuning or is it strictly for db reduction?

Well every exhaust is made for different horsepower , and differen tuning settings. Some are made for lower torque and some are for higher torque settings for bigger tracks
