the reason i am asking is because i pick up an 04 trx450r dirt cheap and found out where the front timing chain guide clips in is broke off and there is nothing to clip the guide to. can you run the motor with out it. i know if the timing chain breaks it will do alot of damage. what do you guys think?

You need the rear chain slider, cause your chain tensioner pushes against it.

And im guessing you are talking about the candy cane slot is broke off. i have seen guys self tap a screw into the side case to hold it in. but i dont think i would be running without one.

im guessing the guys chain fell off or broke... get a piece welded on luckily i found mine and got it welded on... wouldn't recommend running it without... without one side will prob throw timing out of adjustment or worse..
