what is the most common gear ratio for harescrambles or woods racing? what size tires did you run with that ratio? will be using a 70cc. all comments are welcomed. have local race in december. any and all information on harescrambles would be very helpful. thank you.

I think friends of ours mostly run stock gearing with snow hogs.

We don't run them type of races BUT I'd think you would want as much ground clearance as possible. So, I'd run the Maxxis razor cross rear tire and a 20 inch front tire. With those tires probably 19/35 sprockets to get your low end power.

I hear ya ..we have a few ktm bikes, a few honda s, & a few apex's..
my lil racer dont mind flying 50-60 ft in the air over doubles etc,.. but trees make HER a lil nervous ...go figure
oh & about hairscrambles..
my 2 cents is ..the 2 biggies are ..skidplates & protect that air filter !

We run 18 32 gears on our 50 with big hogs on the rear. Full skids from Marc. we have no problem getting over some real bad stuff . You have to remember the kids are pretty lite. We also run the stock snorkle kit.

We have built quite a few xc minis over the years,i know what we in the shop to prepare but those guys do some major changes at the track depending on conditions.
I will give one of our riders a call and have him post some of his methods for you.

Your are correct on that . If it is a water race we do so many things and mud race we do so many things. We move our gears around for each of these. We stuff foam in the frame. You name it we try it. I am sure it is alot like the MX guys do just in a different way. We play with the clutch if we have alot of up hills or mud holes.

Protect the air filter. Have seen all kinds of mods in this area. Also be sure to have good rear tires. Also you cant beat experience in woods racing.

lol I know others feel different ..but opinions .. some of us know what chain to use so they never come off ,..loose, & w/o a tensioner ;) most dont wanna spend the time researching or the extra cash for them
...& 3kidsracing maybe we'll see ya there ,still tryin to get my rider to give it a try ,.. if not good luck to ya ,..& tell us how ya did

I agree with ya some what. But in Xc you only get one shot no extra heats. We want to stay out of the pits. Its just with the mud and rocks its nice to have a little extra tension. But like you said its all in what ya like to run.
