I broke the swing arm, and I'm thinking that I'm just too heavy for it. What sort of adjustments should I make to the stock shock/spring to better deal with my wt?

If I were to get an after market part, what would be the most economical solution?

I'd rather try to adjust the stock suspension 1st though.

It's an 06. There was a thread around here about how to adjust your springs/shocks?

At 230lbs you are going to exceed what the stock suspension is designed for. Your best bet would be to have your shocks resprung/revalved for your weight. Unless your doing some serious mx or xc the oem swingarm should do fine for you. My guess is probably that it failed from the rear shock bottoming and the swingarm taking the brunt of the abuse.

If your interested in going this route I would recommend GT Thunder. They do great work and not only would you stop your bottoming you would get a better handling quad. ;)

What does something like that cost?

Check out their website.

I believe the front conversion is $395 for both shocks and the rear conversion w/ the aftermarket link is $385.

It is costly, but if you buy an aftermarket swingarm you will have to have atleast the rear shock conversion. Otherwise it would be even softer than what it is already. You could always go on ebay and find a good shape used stock swingarm. With suspension setup for your weight you will more than likely never have a problem again.
