View Full Version : 2003 cr250 full electrical system

will this work or only the 01 wasnt there a change with it after 01 if im not mistaken. i want to upgrade and i have a cr250 parts bike i can take this off of but its an 03. can anyone give me some information. i think i just need the esr adaptor to make it complete.

I'm not 100% sure if the '03 set up will fit but its definitely worth a shot. Not sure why people think only the '01 will work. I've had a '00 digital set up on my R for awhile and it works great.

I believe 01 has the best power curve. I also thought there was a reason 02 on up will not work but I cannot remember why that is?

i think it has to do with more electrical **** they added, like tps or something...

That is right they have a throttle positioning sensor and will not work properly with the 250r.

I have a full 2003 ignition system, including the electronic servo for the power valve. I don't see any throttle position sensor on this system and the only extra plug is for the kill button. I was going to adapt my ESR power valve to run off the CR servo but I never got around to it and now I run a 401 Rotax cylinder. I just sold my 2001 CR ignition to dtowndiesel and before i shipped it out I used the adapter plate and mounted this 2003 system on my quad. It started right up but would back fire when the RPM's were brought up. It seems like the timing was slightly off. Someone with a timing light could probably make this work just fine. I'm not going to use it and has been sitting in a box for 3 years. If anyone is interested I will sell the whole thing as pictured (except the 250r flywheel, that was just to show the size difference) for $170 shipped.
