09 chain adj.

Hay guys Rickiedean here ,have a question for ya,had a deposit on a leftover 08 Z400 ,when i found out the 09 was only $500 more i went with the 09 .On the chain adj. the top of the chain is tight as hell while the bottom of the chain is loose ,the bottom seems to be within the correct play but why is the top so tight? also i have not riden it yet just picked it up ,still going through the manual and Admireing this beautiful thing.Thanks ,,,,,,,,,,,,,Rick

I always use the bottom of the chain to determine slack/adjustment. Maybe put the quad in neutral and push it forwards and backwards? I have yet to see anyone with an 09, plz post pics!!

Thanks ,yep it was in gear soon as i put it in neutral and moved it it released the tension,and on mine 09 i have the 4 bolts on top of the swingarm and only 1 bolt in the middle to adj. the tension,ive herd others say they have 2 bolts .Thanks again ill get som pics up.

Glad ya figured it out. ;) Yeah, some have 2 on the rear of the swingarm, they're on the 03 models. Pretty sure on the 04 and up ( if not 04, 05 ) had a single, better 1 bolt design.
