Electrical issue

Having trouble - New 2008 kawi brute force 650 - wont electric start...clicking noice...
pull cord start works fine, fires up///turn on lights...they flicker on/off....display seems to reset...operate winch stalls entire machine....could these be bad battery///low voltage....voltage drops to about 8v when metered and turn on lights for example.
please help ?

Check the winch wiring for a short, they are installed after and could have chaffed causing a dead short. They typically route them by the motor. Battery voltage is too low to crank the starter probably. I'd start looking around the winch and follow the cabeling back. Good luck hope you find the issue, Matt

Matt, thanks for the advice - it was bugging me, ended up buying a new battery - installed all works fine.
Makes sense, the battery internally was severly fried to the point it would even except a boost (interanally shorted) just like a car
