Hey All,

I got a gas jug that had 5 gallons of 91 octane. I added 1/2 a bottle of Lucas Octane Boost to it, and the gas turned dark. Before I put the boost in, it was normal gas color (whatever that is), but now is the color of iced tea.

Is this normal?

Thanks.

The booster color is darker right? So that would make the gas darker.

My friend ran some octane booster in his cR250 bike and it seized the piston during our ride. I don't know if it was because of the booster or not.

If you have access to race fuel I would recommend it over octane booster .

First of all, what mods do you have done to your motor? If it is stock, the higher octane isn't really helping. I wouldn't run any additives what so ever. I run the high test at the pump (93 octane) in my stock motor. If you have a higher compression piston, you are going to need something like 110 octane.

Octane buster is crap, use race fuel or aviation fuel L100.
You can get the L100 at any local small airport. L100 is 100 octane.
At best octane buster only bumps the gas up 1-2 numbers.
93 pump with booster will only get you about 95-96 octane. Not much boost for the money.

+1, and if he lives anywhere near a race track (typically drag racing) there should be a gas station with 109~110 leaded fuel.

My quad is lightly modded, intake, pipe and rejetted.

I used to burn 93 in my old bike but for some reason i can ony get 91 at my local gas stations. I was basically using it to get to 93 octane.

No, the octane boost is generally clear which is why I thought it was odd that the gas turned so dark.

Due to the fact it is the stock piston, I would just run the 91 then. In all honesty, much higher than that is worthless because the compression is to low to get any benefits out of the higher octane. Just my .02
