i have a husquavarna 460 rancher. the otherday my brother decided to change the chain and screwed it up. he didnt put the blade lock on before taking off the side cover. now i need to comperss the spring for it to open up the band to fit back on. how do i compress the spring once its in the locked position?

cant get the cover on to pull it.

The cover doesn't have to be on to pull it. I'm not familiar with that model husky, but on all 3 of mine, the lever comes with the cover. If it doesn't, there is usually some sort of metal tab sticking up that you can put some pliers and snap it back.

I believe that saw has Huskys newer chain brake setup with the 3 fingered brake lever and the entire brake assembly in the clutch cover.

They are a pain to release if they're removed in the locked position. Try removing the chain brake lever and using it to release the chain brake. If that doesn't work, you'll need two people, patience and a pair of vise grips to release it.
