So, being 18 officially sucks in the state of oregon. I can no longer hunt as a youth. The youth system here is really incredible if you play your cards right. My dad and I studied the books and draw odds for months, and I think it paid off.
By the end of my youth hunting career, I have a beautiful 137 point Whitetail Deer, taken at age 15. Followed by the once in a lifetime hunt in the state, and the new #5 youth rifle record for Oregon, my 169 and 7/8th California Bighorn Sheep, shortly after my 16th birthday. A year later, I killed the #11 youth Pronghorn Antelope with a score of 78 and 7/8th. Shortly after, I took a very nice Blacktail, that i havent had officially scored yet, but is projected at around 135-140, putting it around the number 25 or so for youth. So, three years, three animals in the state book, and now im stuck with the general population. Although my first elk season with a bow as and adult turned out unsuccessful, I had some very close encounters with some very nice bulls.
I know you guys wont believe me without pictures, so i'll go take some and post them in the order that I addressed them above: Whitetail, Sheep, Antelope, Blacktail.

when i was elk hunting this year i put the stalk on a few black bears, in some thick brush near a creek. it definitely gets the blood pumping when you here a stick break behind you when all you have is a bow lol

congrats on the bear.
i'll have a picture of my blacktail up tomorrow, its the only one i havent posted a pic of yet.
i might post more pics of my sheep and antelope too, cuz these ones dont do it justice. they dont show the mass of the sheep very well, or the ivory tips on the antelope. i'll try and get better ones tomorrow

My dad, Me, and my hunting partner for the trip/guide that we didnt have to pay/family friend:

<a href="http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u276/ramco17/?action=view&current=l_3f4d295df06cfc81d8b8cb0d10707bed.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u276/ramco17/l_3f4d295df06cfc81d8b8cb0d10707bed.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The mountains I was in:

<a href="http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u276/ramco17/?action=view&current=l_54551f2058a32dbbc8dfc9bf58c63026.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u276/ramco17/l_54551f2058a32dbbc8dfc9bf58c63026.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Hiking 20 miles a day in 115 degree heat, for 2 weeks in a mountain range with 3 trees total will make you look like this:

<a href="http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u276/ramco17/?action=view&current=l_496e1e097643a50f5cd110eb09fdadee.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u276/ramco17/l_496e1e097643a50f5cd110eb09fdadee.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Sucker had a pair lol:

tayyo789
11-22-2009, 10:50 AM
i think somewhere in the 170 range. mine wasnt from oregon though. my dad and i took a trip down to south texas, where i got the whitey, and he took an import from india known as a black buck.
