k&n, timing key and a 450 carb. monster coil too maybe. that would be about it for less than 200. steve

will rev box help?

not really the 400 doesnt make any power up that high in the rpm range. i would not waste my money on it but you can do some reading in it if you search it. Some say it helps others dont. it depends on what kind you get and what you are looking to do with it. steve

Rev boxes are a waste of money.

Steve hit the nail on the head. Timing key, K&N, and an AMR coil would be money well spent.

Scrape the K&N and get "Twin Air". The K&N lets too much small particles through the filter.

definitely SCRAPE it down good so that beast that way it WILL let some in. that gives an advantage to the twin air now we arent comparing apples to apples more like a pear to an apple lol. sorry i thought it was funny, i hope you did too. :blah: If it is oiled properly and not scraped it should be fine. each person likes something different. I have ran my k&n for over 4 years with no problems. I use an outerwear and it is all good that helps with water and smaller stuff along with the extra filter. Either one will be fine. steve

My mechanic put a rev box on my motor when he first did the work and it made it run like crap so I went back to the stock one. I don’t know what brand it was. As for the filter I use the stock one with an outerwear’s over it. Yes I know it doesn’t flow as well as some others but I have run it without the filter on and I can’t tell any deference with it on or off. I think the flow is just fine with a stock filter.
One thing with this set up, I never have one speck of dust or dirt in my intake, and I use the bell ray filter oil. The bell ray works even when wet.
I wonder how well a port job would do on that set up, open it up and let it breath. I think most of the preformance is in the head anyway.

i think it is just about the same diameter as a normal round k&n filter so you should be able to get one for that and be ok. i think it is around 6 inches but i cant measure it off hand. steve

this is the one that i use and it fits on the oem style round k&n.

this is the same diameter of the stock filter and fits in the same mounting position as the stock one.

from everything I have read, most people seem happier with a sparks timing advance key than a rev box. Rev box's seem to make starting a little easier though.

Go with the monster coil before the rev box. Like Steve said back a few posts, there just isn't enough power left in the 9,000+ RPM range for it to make any substantial difference. I just installed the Sparks key in mine a few days ago. I was really happy with the results, especially for $30. After going with a pipe, jetting, after market air, Sparks key and monster coil you don't really have much left for "cheap power". Maybe a 450r carb, but even that won't produce very much gains on a stock motor. I'd go with bettering your suspension before the carb. You can get a set of 450 shocks for the $150 range that will make a huge difference. A better suspension will, in theory, give you more power as it will allow you to ride faster and harder than you can with the stock suspension. Maybe if sometime down the road you decide to get into a bore kit or stage 2 or 3 cam, then that 450r cab would be a nice add.

Oh and never underestimate the power of a new set of rubber. Power is useless if you can't get it to the ground.

Yep new tires will do wonders. And bkelly I see you have been listening. Was that you a while back asking about tires? Or maybe you said something about new tires. Anyway if you have old warn tires new ones will help a lot. Mainly the rear tires.

I always try and stress the importance of tires. My Holeshot H-Ds were one of my first purchases.
