I just took my headers off to polish them...sanded them and everything. I polished it to a chrome finish, but i noticed that a lot of people's are goldish after they're done. Is it just because i haven't polished them enough yet.

Everyone's turns out looking like chome...before they start their quad. Stainless will start to change colors when it builds up heat. It usually turns blue or a goldish color

had mine polished to a chrome, didnt even stay that way long enough to take a picture!

On the very first start up it turned a goldish brown

I think the gold colour kinda looks cool! Can I ask what kind of compound you used to polish. I have been meaning to take off my head pipe and port it out and polish it up!

Yes it is. Keeps the temps down and exhaust velocity up and comes in a variety of colors/finishes. I'm having my header redone in ceramic chrome. Almost chrome-like reflectivity and doesn't change colors on you. Think of it like powdercoat for exhaust.

I'm having it done locally at a powdercoating shop. My CT Racing header was already ceramic coated but had some small rust spots and a small chip so it needed to get redone. The old finish was more of a satin-chrome, but the stuff I saw at the shop is a much more reflective chrome. Should look nice when it's done.

He quoted me $80 which, after shopping around a bit, is a decent price. I'll definitely post pics in this thread when it's done...should be finished in about a week :macho

Here's a pic of the old coating. Best thing about it is it always stays the same color/shine with minimal upkeep.

on my hybrid i had my header and muffler ceramic coated. its held up well so far. i got everything done in a flat ceramic black, and my canister in a flat blue. the ceramic colors other than black dont match powder colors, though, so if you go for a match you probably wont get it. my blue doesnt match my frame, but its close

Here's the pics I promised of the new ceramic coating on my CT header. Looks almost like chrome in person, pretty sweet

What grade sand paper did you use?
