View Full Version : Getting a 450X... Any tips or tricks?

I should be picking up my 450x this coming week and i was just wondering if anybody had any tips or tricks yet... even for the 450R as far as little modifications, improvements, etc... any info is greatly appreciated!

ive already heard that the x models have a 3rd gear problem that the r's dont...... i wouldnt buy one..

id buy a standard before the R or X.

thats the best advice your gonna hear. even from the pros that race them.

ive already made up my mind on buying one, and ive ridden the r's before and i like how they handle and feel a lot more than the standard yfz's. I have not heard about the 3rd gear issue but if it happens then i will deal with it.

the r and the x have the same motor and tranny

that is what i thought... i didnt remember seeing anything about revised gearing or anything

I was at the dealership yesterday and they told me they changed the gearing on them and the cam profiles.I dont know if they meant they changed the gearing in the sprockets or the trans.I asked about the cam profiles and they said they were changed more for the woods than the R is.I was wanting to trade my R in for one but maybe Ill wait to see how they do.

your stealership is wrong. all they changed was width, camber, and mapping.
