wont work, tried it before. The DynoJet needle is longer but thinner tapered. When you hold them side by side you see it. Basically the stock needle wont fit in the jets. Completely different number system for measuring fuel.

thanks that is how i thought it was and how i have always told it to someone who asks. I thought maybe there was a slight chance of having it work so i could tune my 450 carb with djs if needed. thanks again for the info steve

Whoa whoa whoa, the DJ needle is not needed with the DJ jets. The needle does it's job with it's clearance to the seat, a part that stays the same no mater what needle or jet you use. I preferred the stock needle even when I ran DJ jets. It's a total go!

sounds good thanks for the info. i have some keihins but they may not be enough to get it tuned properly. I may have to go a bit smaller than a 168 or higher than a 172 keihin to get it dialed. thanks again. steve

Went a step further Steve. Just got back from the garage where I measured a stock vs DJ needle and both are the same length.

damn what kit did my brother get than? lol the ancient dynojet kit? Sorry for the mis-informing since they are saying you can do that. I know I couldnt the needle wouldnt fit in the jet very far and it wouldnt work. This is way back though and the needle was deffinately a little longer and almost stretched because the taper was different too. this was on a 400ex and i'm reading that your using a 450r carb. maybe the jets/needles are different? IDK.

actually i am using the 400 jets in the 450 carb when i do it. I am not going to use the 400 needle in the 450 carb because it is not long enough. I just wanted to make sure i could use the dj jets if needed in the 450 carb to get it dialed without buy more jets. i only have the 3 keihins listed above from when i jetted my 400. the 170 is in it right now and the others are in my box of djs. i hope that i cleared it up and no prob on the needle. is this still going to work Trx with the 450 needle? thanks again. steve

I've got DJ needles from 02 and 05. The stock needle I have is also an 02. These are all for the 400ex carb. I've seen some crazy differences in DJ vs stock lengths on CV carbs but not on regular stuff. They like to shorten the needles on CV carbs for faster fuel responce.

IDK what was going on with your needle 352, maybe they slipped the wrong one in the kit
