I have a ltz400 and for awhile it would not rev over a certain limit as if it was a reverse rev limit. but it was in neutral. then it it shut off and wouldnt start. and that was after a ride. I cleaned the carb out and nothing. Could it be the mixture? Some one with exsperience help me out. thanks

I would first get a new plug and then check it for spark. After that, get a service manual and check that the coil is within service spec's. That all checks out, cdi box could be shot if the motor has good compression and battery has good volts---> 12.8 to 13.6. Hope this helps. Matt

I replaced the cdi and It fires with some starter fluid on the filter. So that gets rid of the idea of the spark plug and cdi. Check out the coil?

check to see if the wires for reverse rev limiter re crossed. search on this website forum, i think it says start machine in reverse and no rev limiter in reverse. they are two gray identical wires. they could be crossed or they could be grounding out somewhere. so check the witing harness! hope that helps :)

The Ground( Black ) wire at the Battery can be broken inside the wires plastic coating. I had one that was broken several inches away from any end ,same goes for the red battery wire . Also check Battery Voltage .12.7 - 14
