Will 2002 CR250 ignition work?

First off we should get a sticky on this subject I searched but could not get a direct answer. I have a 2002 CR250 ignition but see most use the 2001 why is that? Is the curve much better or is 00-01 the only ones that will fit? Will a 2002 work at all or will any years from 02 on up to 09 work or have any benefits? What are the benefits of using the 2001 ignition? Also what are all the parts needed to get the ignition working. Like do you need stator, flywheel, CDI, coil, voltage regulator. Am I missing something?




If a 02 will not work does anyone have a 2001 CR250 igntion for sale? Thanks

If no one answers you...I would call ESR, Im sure they can tell you everything you need to know...

The 2000 & up years of the CR250R ignition will work.
The 2000 & up is digital & any of the systems below that is anilog cdi just like the old TRX ignition.

Far as I know, theres no voltage regulator in the CR ignition system, because it dont have the charging system to work lights or charge a battery.

If you had nothing, all you would need to do is check one of the OEM sites out on the net & look up the part numbers for the CR250R ignition, but after you do that & then check the ESR website, your probably going to find the whole complete system adapter plate & all cheaper than buying piece by piece.

You having the whole 02 system, all you need is the adapter plate to mount it to the TRX cases, & ESR has those for around 80 bucks. Might could get lucky & find a used plate on the net somewhere.

I understand this is from 09 but can you or can you not use those ESR plates on the 02? cause i called and asked them about it and they said no...

Far as I remember, the CR ignition to TRX case adapter plate's ESR has, will work on the 2000 to 2005 model CR ignition system's.
