i started my ltz400 today for the first time in 2-3 weeks ( due to repairs) and then after 30 seconds of my quad being idle the exhaust turned bright red! anybody have any ideas of what the problem could be?

Were you running the same fuel. Or did you add something different? What did you do to it when you repaired it?

if your runing really lean this could happen has the tempature changed significantly in your area i.e. 20degrees or so

My brand new stainless exhaust glows red when it is warming up while choked. Let off the choke, the idle comes down and the pipe stops glowing.

:D only time ive seen this is when the choke has been left on longer then normal then it goes back to normal. perhaps if it got too hot for too long it could possibly warp something/make metal weaker. could be wrong feel free to correct me...

its most likely because it is getting colder out now. my old kfx/z exhaust used to glow when it was colder out and that was stock

Most factory stock engines are run lean to pass stupid emitions thtats why jets are put on some stock bikes and they get a big power boost. Baicly does ur quad runn god any hesitation or hicups ect
