I've got two perfectly good 250r motors and want to keep them that way. What case saver do you recommend? My 450 had a case saver on it the chain broke and it still broke the mounting bolts => before I bought it....

Please note, I change my chain regularly and makes sure it is the proper tension always.

I know some are better, so please share your opinions and experiences. Thanks. Troy

The aluminum one on Ebay that wraps around the shifter shaft. I asked this question last year and that was the answer I received.

Im not sure of there are any that are bad, the thing you really need to worry about is that case saver damn near rubs the rollers of the chain. Im currently running an esr case saver, never broke a chain either though.

my two cents.

Can't find the one that I got, was on ebay. It wraps around the shifter shaft, but also rests against the case like a nacs one or other kinds, didn't like the ones that didn't do both. It seems to fit fine, haven't chucked the chain since I got it, but it seemed like the best designed one, I've had the chain come off and break the case around the shifter shaft, and it's usually violent when it comes off so I wanted the case to help back it up. Mine has a big R cut into it, looks fancy, didn't really care about that, just the design.

I have one of those to and I really like the way it fits.

The guy that makes them is really nice. He did not have any listed at the time I sent him a message and he was nice enough to make one for me and send it out for less than what he sold them for on e-bay.

Did the same for me. I asked for one without the R on it. He complied and I received it quickly...

X2, I've been searching ebay and can't find it. I looked on JL website and they claim they have them that wrap around the shifter shaft, but the picture doesn't come up for me on my computer. I've currently got a K&K but don't know how good it is.

a rubber case saver is the only why the bolts will not break.

I bought a Moose case saver from Rocky Mountain. Seems to be working fine, but I've never really broken a chain to have to really test it. I do know that I had to re-use the original bolts because the ones that came with the saver were not long enough.

This is the one I have from James Lucky. Seems to do good. Goes around the shifter and fits against the case.

i dont want to steal this guys thread but i posted a thread on the 300ex forum on here looking for a decent case saver for a 300ex. i would like to try to get a urethane case saver for it but if not i would liek to find a decent one that is not goin to get all ripped up and mess up my cases at all. i am rebuildin my whole motor due to cracked cases and dont want to have to deal with a cracked case again

I have that case saver also.

These look cool, especially for $30. I have seen one up close and they are pretty thick.

Here is a pic of a cool stock style case saver that works with the stock chain guard.
