Im puzzled with jetting on my 310. Im running a 39 pwk with a 180 main, needle on the middle clip, and a 50 pilot. It doesnt idle for ****. When i stab the throttle off idle in 1-2-3 gear it bogs and dies most of the time. My plug looks a light chocolate brown almost to light for maximum piston life so i think the main may need to go up one, i have never ran anything smaller than a 52 for a pilot do i really need to go smaller? What are you guys running?

MODS:
CT 310 National Porting (if its even considered ported)
ESR TRX 5 centermount
ESR airbox eliminator
Keihin PWK 39 carb
Boyesen rad valve
190 Compression
Lightned flywheel
1400 elevation

Also, where in the powerband would i benefit more if i advanced the timing 2 or 4 degrees?

Thanks guys

Stock ignition, right? What's your plug gap? Try 0.018".

I have totally forgotten what size main jet is in my esr310. I do know that my carb is a 38mm. I think the main is a 185. Mine is ported for mid to top end and runs great. This is probably why I have forgotten so much about it. I never have to work on it.

Im going to drop the pilot down to a 45 and raise the main to a 185, this sound reasonable for a 39 pwk?

the chok brown color that you have. is it from overall running or is it based on wot chop? a 52 pilot for your elev. sure seems phat, as well as having a 180 main.

personally it sounds as tho you need to do some tweekin' on all the circuits.
