ok so I just put in my new carrier in and got everything greased up and ready to put the axle back in. Iam sliding it through and then right when its 2 inches away it stops. so i take it out and notice that there is a spot a little bit bigger then it should be. I have a rpm dominater 2 axle and the carrier is a east coast atv carrier. I was thinking just to grind the spot on the axle down a bit but iam not sure....... any help would be great since this weekend is a race weekend!!

Thanks
Tyler

Your going to have to take a pic of what you are talking about. if the axle is brand new or just came out of another carrier i think you just have to push it in.

1st is the old sleeve that is all jacked up

2nd is the gap that is between the sproket and the carrier

3rd is the bump that I want to grind down

When I installed axles in new/rebuilt carriers, it was the same way, it went most of the way in, stopped several inches away and I had to hit the axle with a sledge to get in it all the way. It didn't matter if it was a new or used axle.

was that axle involved in a blown carrier incident? looks like parts of the broken sleeve and bearings fused themselves to the axle almost. need better pics to be for sure

I cased a jump and thats when the carrier went. The carrier outside was fine but the inside was shreded. So do you think I should try hitting it with a sledge first? and if not try to see if I can grind some off?

Haha don't hit with a sledge please. I don't think the carrier bearings will like that, plus u'll never be able to get it back out again.
If the axle doesn't slip right in, something need's to be fixed.

Like eastside 400 said, it looks like some of ur old carrier sleeve left it self on ur axle.
Post some better pictures of the axle.

i have had that problem before with the bearing and sleeve chunks sticking to my axle. i just ground those little parts off and stuck it in, but a few rides later i blew the carrier again. you most likely gotta buy a new axle. no point in wrecking that new carrier.

you think you blew the carrier cause your grinding wasnt perfectly sized?
