thanks for the overall length and the ID of the boot gt. Matt if you could possibly get the ID and the OD of the 450 carb that would be great, if not it is not a big deal, I can get them when i get my carb in a few weeks too. I just want to make it before hand so i can get it installed on my 400 over thanksgiving. Steve

Steve,
send ZRpilot a PM.
I know he is considering getting out of the manufacturing the adapters, and may be able to help you out.

No problem should be good measurements. My caliper was re-certified in the spring and I havent dropped it or anything so should be good to go.

there is a guy on here that has been making those adapters for years...he has sold tons of them. I have one, works GREAT! It's on my brothers quad now

I know i would buy one but i have to do a project for my manufacturing class so i decided to make one on my own. I think it will work out great actually doing it this way, it is one more thing i can do to make it my own machine with stuff that i fabricate and be proud of the job i did with it. Steve

Hey Steve if your making those in class you should make more then one, may come in handy in the future.

When you chuck up the material just turn down an area to 2.690 long enough to make a few. If you make it with the big bell out you won't even have to re chuck for the next one, you just keep cutting away.

i am def. gonna see what i can do about making a couple but it is unlikely since i will be using a scrap piece that they find for me that is big enough. I have been thinking about making some out of PVC pipe that is 3" in diameter too. It may be thick enough to get the whole cut out of one peice but I havent looked at it yet. It was just a thought i had while going to get some food tonight. lol. steve

i have solidworks, rhino and mastercam all in my engineering class lol. and we have a flowjet lmao i could look into making these but my teacher would probably want me to keep working on a battlebot we are building.

As zrpilot suggested i made the boot side of the adaptor a bit smaller diameter so it will fit on the boot a bit better and took into consideration the .004" from trx so i can heat shrink it on the 450 carb. Let me know what you guys think. if anyone wants a bigger copy let me know and i will email you one. Thanks Steve

yeah he actually told me that he thought it would be too thick and would have a hard time fitting. I only changed the thin part to make it thinner, leaving the thick part where you had said to make it a bit smaller. I sure hope this works great, i am going to make it tomorrow afternoon. :D Zr said that he only had one left and that he would not be making anymore after this one is gone. steve

I told you the same thing plus I let you know that the outside step should be radiused to maximize strength. With a radius you can go really thin. I can't read what you have for a wall thickness there. I run about .080"

then mine is really close at .09 on the edges. i guess you did say to make it a bit smaller also. I had a bunch of different pms and stuff i was going off of to make this. THANKS A TON to everyone who helped i will make sure i take a pic of the stuff i make tomorrow. I couldnt have made it without everyones help. I get to kill 3 birds with one stone. I get to make the part, get extra credit, and get certified in part of our labs here at MTU. that will be nice for senior year during our senior design stuff. Steve

Extra credit.......... nice! I'm just bustin' balls Steve, I like the way you're approaching this. Not everyone can identify a problem and execute the solution. Anything is possible when your mind is this open already in your life. Keep up the good work.

2 i should have made the thin part about another .125 longer and it would have been better i think. the .5" may be a bit hard to clamp since it is slightly wider than the hose clamps.

Good work there Steve.
looks like a nice part.
I'm sure that if you are willing to take over for ZR as the "Go To Guy", he will have no problem with that. I had spoken to him a couple of months ago, and he had said that he wanted someone to take it over.
heck, all you'd need to do is produce and sell about 500,000 of them, and your tuition will be paid for! Woo-Hoo!!
LOL!

thanks ron. i am now an entrepreneur, just 499,999 to go. although, i dont have any other material to make any more. lol. you should have seen the block i started with and clamped into the mill. lol. a 2.69" diameter by 1.25" tall part doesnt really look big until you start finding square blocks of aluminum that you can cut it to size with. I wont be making any for the time being. I may see if i can make some out of pvc or something if i could find the right diameter stuff to make them. over break i will be looking into it some more. i drew up some cool ski mounts a bit ago that are in the paddles thread. I want to see if i can make them also. thanks again for the compliments guys i really appreciate it. i have about 6 hours in it start to finish with all of the different drawings and different programs i tried to make it in for various reasons. I had 3 hours in making it in the lab today with the lab instructor going over the commands and stuff on the cnc mill. steve

Jaybee2401983@yahoo.com I would like some specs on it also but the only thing that you suggest to do would be go .125 longer on the boot side

you could make the .5" for the smaller part length .75" and the OD on the smaller .0625" instead of .09" if you choose. It worked good for me just how it is though.
