Well from what I've seen most people when remounting their battery move it to the air box. I think this is nice but don't like the idea of the swinger coming up and smashing it. So the idea I have come up with us to have one of the welders at work tig up a box and mount the battery up front of the steering stem and above the upper a arms. I've checked and it will fit plus ill move the rest of the battery stuff under the plastics. I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks of this idea and any problems I'm not seeing.

I think it would work but you will have to run all of the wires to the front. when moving it to the air box this is not needed. i guess you could just run two but ya know. Otherwise, it may a bit vulnerable up there but it cant be any worse than having it right above the tire. also it could reduce the air flow to the oil cooler but it may not be too bad either. give it a try and see how you like it. just dont make it permanent so you can move it back if you dont like it. you could do a test run and see how it looks and see if it will hold up and just run two wires up there temporarily. then if you do and it works good, move the wires later.

sounds like a good idea but are you shortening the wiring harness because if not you will have a cluster of wires up there

Get an aluminum airbox
They are pretty cheap now-a-days

One came on the quad I bought, Fits the battery and everything else in there quite nicely

Yea I am prepared to make up new cables. That's no big deal. And I was looking at the coolers for air flow problems I don't think it would cause to much of a loss to the stocker but I have a second cooler mounted up front and would probably have to move it a little or add a fan.

that would be my only real worry about it. the weight in the front is not going to matter, the wires are no big deal, and mounting is not a big deal if you use some u bolts or weld it on. steve

I'd say it sounds like a good idea.
My personal thoughts are its probably better off in the airbox, just my .02

To awnser the other questions yes I would shorten the harness to fit better and the reason I don't want to move it to the air box is I would like to add a different link and from what I've read these add travel so I don't want the swing arm coming up and possible taking out the box and battery.

i made a make shift box out of a road sign and it sits right under my headlights. when i get around to tearing my quad down, i'm gonna build a bigger one so i can use a raptor or a grizzly battery.

Hey guys thanks for the pics! That looks like a better spot to put it, Ill have to check to see if my extra cooler lines will work with a battery there. Are there any other clearance issues with it being there?

i dont have any issues with it, my plastics sit about 1/8" higher than the battery.

can you not run your oil lines a different route?

I can change the mounting of the cooler and get the room I need, I have a bigger bumper now so it wont hurt to move the cooler out. Here is an older pic that shows the cooler.

Yea Im bored and stroked so mine makes a little more heat. It made a really big difference for me. If you dont have any internal mods the spal fan would work really slick for you. Ill be posting up some pics of my battery remount and Ill try to get some pics of my cooler mounted to help you out.
