View Full Version : heeelllpp!! cant putt magneta off...

trying to change the starter clutch on my 04 400ex, but cant seem to get the magneta off for notthiingggg. we have the wheel puller on it and keep tightening it and hitted t it, but scared to hit it to hard. any tips?? any specific way to do it?? thanks, neil:mad:

Isn't the flywheel on the opposite side of the starter clutch?

this happens by the rollers gripping onto the gear shoulder when turned. it is common for those rollers to wear into the gear shoulder and when this happens it no longer grips and the starter just turns the gear and nothing grabs to turn the motor over.
so in short the one-way stater clutch roller pack and gear needs replaced.
the left crankcase cover and flywheel need removed to do this. the flywheel takes a special puller from honda to remove it properly. a call to your local honda service should be able to hook you up with that.
