I have some kind of aftermarket exhaust ... Can't pin a name on exactly which system it is, nobody could so far. Looks like some kind of homemade shorty silencer, maybe big gun? Aftermarket header to match as well.

It's a great system performance wise in my opinion, but it's too loud to ride the trails in Michigan. Plus it doesn't have a spark arrestor.

So I need a somewhat quiet performance exhaust system with a spark arrestor. (And the stamping on the outside of the silencer that says "USFS Approved Spark Arrestor"

Here is the thread about my exhaust that is up for trade.

Here are some pics, it's not beat up by any means. I'll get a few more pics later on.

interesting fact......if you ever look at any of the disc type systems they are specifically marked (namely wb) NOT USFS approved but the disc is specifically marked USFS approved but Im pretty sure the reg is written that the can has to be stamped approved.

I don't want a disc type silencer, but that's good to know in-case someone wants to trade one... Thanks for the info katch26 :D

The WB is approved when equipped with the disc system. The can alone is not, that's why the different stamping otherwise you could put a turn down on the end and play dumb.

Your the first person I've ever heard say that. Have any proof of that?

It simply costs more to build a pipe with discs. If you think about that's why you see everybody and their brother using screens, the generic spark arrestor.

He said it better then I did.....

Mickey Dunlap
The discs tend to flow more; the screens usually kill the power pretty bad on a performance motor. With the disc-type exhaust systems (SuperTrapp, White Brothers, FMF, etc.), you can adjust back pressure for your riding style also. More discs giving less back pressure and more top end usually; less discs creating more back pressure giving more low end and throttle response.

Thanks for the info

That makes me want to do more research, to make the best choice on exhausts

not saying it does or doesnt but Johnny Ranger following the letter of the law can ticket based on the fact that the can does not say usfs approved and the law says that it must. This exact situation came up on another forum and needless to say they now have a different pipe.,,,,in MI. My post was only to inform him in so he can make the best decision in his situation, it may be best to get the ranger's official stand on it or youre throwing good money after bad trying to do the right thing thats all.

Not trying to bust you up but I've personally taken a machine with a WB through a check station in MI and had zero issues. This was at SL and I'm sure they know more then most in that state. Unfortunately the Ranger in the other thread clearly had no idea what he was doing. Unfortunately there's nothing to stop any enforcement officer in this whole country from writing tickets that have no merit. This does make you wonder though how many pipes out there say not approved on them.

I have the same exhaust on my 400. I really like the look of yours the way its been cut shorter, might have to do that to mine later on when it comes time for new packing.
