I've been wondering what pipe will give me the best performance, I'm more interested in torque for the woods.

i like my t-4 but there are some really nice exhausts out that seem to be good quality also. I would look into the two brothers and stuff also. here are some more comments on some other exhausts.

heres a shoot out from a while ago but you can check out the dyno runs for some of the older ones anyway.

You know what the problem with that dyno is Steve? They've got the E-series seriously choked back. You can tell they don't have as many discs as the CT just from the db levels. Would have been interesting if they tested theirs at 95 db.

yeah i know they are a bit off but i guess it shows him a bit of info and a decent starting point for a few of the exhausts he was asking about. steve

having the e series choked back gives it the low end that he is looking for also so i guess if he wants it a bit quieter and would like to have a tunable exhaust for different situations he should look into the e series a bit more. steve

Sorry steve, I should have added that it is a good reference overall. You know like the glass is half full in this case. ;)

x2...I liked my HMF but I think I should've went with the White Bros. I used to have a White Bros on my Lakota back in the day and it was a really good pipe except for the bolts breaking off that holds the discs on. Other then that I loved it.

From what you guys said I think the e-series is the way to go just because its adjustable for more torque. I'm not concerened about how loud it is as long as its louder than stock, lol. :D Anymore suggestions for different pipes are welcomed

For the money, you can't go wrong with HMF. I had one on my Z400 and the power and torque increase was significant paired with a Pro Design intake, no lid and jetted properly. The customizeable color schemes is cool for people who like that. And the powder coated cans hold up extremely well. The full system I bought 3+ years ago is on it's third bike. Still looks awesome. But in the end, I'd just pick what you think looks/sounds the best.

Just throwing this out there for you. For under 100 bucks it's great. Was tested as the most powerful pipe on a a 4 stroke dirt bike a while bike. Not to mention it installed like butter unlike some pipes. It's a nice pipe, simply out of date. Here's a vid of mine so you can hear the sound.

If I was buying a new pipe I'd be all over the CT pipe. Standard tunable 4" discs and a monster if you want it to be.

dont get an eseries unless you get it at a really good deal....parts are non existant and wb pipes always like to crack at the midpipe

Foxhound013

I have no intentions of buying the midpipe, or headers as i think they're called, the 400ex header or midpipe is supposed to be pretty good.

the midpipe he is talking about is the part coming out of the rear part of the silencer. the e series tend to crack in a few places after a while. some pipes have different setups that require an additional midpipe but not the normal ones. I think dennis kirk has a couple in their mag that you have to buy the mid. the stock header does a good job with flowing until you start to get into bigger bores, cams, and such. you could grind out the welds on the inside of the stock header to make it a bit better but the extra benefits if any are barely noticable at best with an addition to a nice pipe. I would recommend to get a denniskirk and look through it to see the different styles and manufactures of pipes also. this will help to make the decision a bit easier since you can compare prices for some of them also. granted they are not all in there so you will have to look around for something like a ct racing brand.

i love my hmf, i threw the full system on first though because i knew i would eventually be boring up and putting a bigger cam in, but the power gain with the full system and a mostly stock ex was very noticeable, and i really didnt notice a difference in low end, but then again i usually have my throttle pinned

Here's a sound clip of my 400EX with the White Bros. E-Series. It's probably a tad louder than normal since I need to re-pack it.

Also, I never had a problem with my pipe. Couldn't be happier with it, actually.
