the past couple days i've noticed my bike backfireing through the carb seems like it's getting a little more often what would cause this and how can i fix it? the bike is a little rough to start when cold sounds like it has the hickups when it warms up it seems to run good any idea?

how are the temps doing by you? it may be getting a bit on the lean side with the colder weather just an idea though. Steve

How old is it? If it an older one check to see if you have an air leak in the intake somewhere.

i guess i forgot to up date my sig. i rejetted to 42 pilot 158 main and i think it turned out 2 1/4 or 2 1/2. this didn't make much of a difference. the temp. changes don't seem to matter. i haven't seen anything that looked like an air leak. i rebuilt the carb last year.

Sorry I didn't read your sig. Have you changed the plug lately?

Check your header gasket.

not sure if youve checked but everyone always jumps on jetting but cam timing can cause this too. Ive had cam tensioners fail causing the chain jump teeth on the cam. just a thought, not too sure how often something like that happens on sohc but its somewhat common on dual cam setups.

the plug has two day rideing on it. the old plug was light brown looked ok

whould the low speed screw setting cause this if it was off.
