Hello all.
I know this isnt the Yamaha section or even the dirt bike site for that matter, but I currently have a 2004 400ex and only post and read what everyone writes in this section. If you are able to help me out then GREAT!

I am currently seriously debating trading my 2003 400EX with pro taper bars and a uni intake for a 2004 yamaha yz450f bike with aftermarket bars.

My atv is very clean and from what i can see in the pictures the bike is as well. It is from a huge dealer here in Canada and it has been completely gone through and I trust it wont have any problems.

I have limited experience with bikes and I know that the 450 is pretty crazy! However, I am 6'3" 220lbs and i feel a 250 4 stroke isnt going to cut it once i get used to everything. i am not the kind of guy who doesnt know his limitations so its not like im going to jump on the 450 and go balls out! I will take it slow and learn properly.

Now my question is... If you were in my position, would you trade? I find the 400ex to be a bit on the small size for a guy my size. Also i would love to learn to ride a bike!

Any and all positive input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Colin

My 400EX hauls my 6'5" 280lbs butt pretty well, but I know what you're saying. I'm actually going for a TRX700XX here soon. Should be a pretty huge difference. The YFZ450f are pretty awesome machines, and since you'll be getting a new and more powerful bike, it's kinda hard to pass up.

Very true. My 400 moves me well but it still feels small somtimes. Especially while jumping. I feel the bike will be a lot of fun. Probably crazy in the snow but fun haha.
