If anyone wants to remove the choke on the stock 400ex carb here’s an easy was to plug up the shaft. All you need is a 6-32 counter sunk machine screw that is 1 1/4in. long, washer and lock nut. The head of the screw fits nice and flush in side the carb. Better than using JB weld that you would have to drill and grind out if you ever wanted to put the choke back in.

I was going to use a few dots of hondabond.

The silicon would be a better option. If the nut should come loose on the nut&bolt idea, you can kiss you're motor goodbye.

Well I used a nylon lock nut with red lock tight and filled the hole with RTV. I would say its not coming apart any time soon, I'll post some pictures tomorrow.:devil

Its going to be around 25 degrees tonight so I'm going to test the cold starting tomorrow. Right now I'm running a #40 Pilot I'll see how it starts.

I used a little gasket maker. Seems to work just fine. You can see the BLUE gasket maker at the top of the picture.

Be careful with the nut & bolt idea cause if that nut comes loose your motor is sucking that nut right in.

You will have to go up a size on your pilot, my 300 will crank and stay running for 2 seconds at the most with a 40 pilot, so I have to put a 42 in.
