Very soon! That cam worked out great! I still have a minor issue with the leak jet, but all in all, its pretty much ready! I guess I need a Rekluse also. But, so far, ZERO out of pocket cost. My Dvx400 has funded it!:D

Complete Seat. A lot cheaper then Quad Tech also. Its like sitting on a couch cushion. I think I paid like $130 or so for it if I remember correctly.

how many of you guys that have the razr 2 fronts run them backwards?

MtnEX
02-11-2011, 09:58 PM
A ton of people run the directional tires like the Razr2 and GNCC fronts in what looks like a backwards direction... due to the angled side knobs.... as the orientation of the knob angle is actually backwards of what you would think when in contact with the ground.

This makes them react differently steering in the woods, and makes them react differently in the ruts that develop.

The more I ride the GNCC fronts, the more I think I am not so much a fan of this sort of tread pattern.

I bought the 21 inch rear tire only because I run wallmart balls in them and like them low pressure so with that set up they measure just 20inchs tall they handle good lots of traction in mud and wet condition really good side bite and you can make them slide when you need in hard pack dry they can be a little splippery but not bad I ran razor 2s before and these are very similar in ride quality with just a little softer side wall they are 6 ply hope that helps

Yeah, that is real helpful.

I have a set of taller GNCC fronts and need the rears to go with them... so I am looking at the 21" Knarly and 21" GNCC.

Dont do this. The 21" GNCC is a very small 21" The knarly is a very large 21". ALmost a 22. Here is my R with 22" Klaws and 21" Knarly. I love the setup, but im selling. I always wanted to try the Razr II fronts with razr I rears. 21"-20".

Yeah, I have always been a Maxxis Razr fan. I've just gotten motivated to try different things... and without a lot of success so far I might add.

I have never found anything 'wrong' with Razrs on both ends. But I must say I also really like the Razr2 fronts.

I ran a Razr/Razr2 combo last race and was very pleased in every aspect... as I fully expected to be.

Where I really screwed up was that bone stock I was nose low. So I decided to get 20" rears and 22" fronts to correct that instead of cranking preload on the front.

Well with the GNCC's that worked out, but the rears were small under load and the fronts were full size. So when I did my suspension I was at least 5/8" high in the front. That of course did not work, so I threw on the Razr combo to level it out and it works.

Now I just hate to let the GNCC fronts go to waste. So I am thinking about 21" tires or something there abouts. A tall 20" might work.

I will have to put them on with the 20" Razr rears to see where I stand.

So when you say don't... do you mean the whole taller tire idea... or don't get 21" Knarlys?

The 21" GNCC is just a large 20" indeed.
Never seen any Knarlys in person but they look good and so does the price tag.

Oh no. DO GET the knarleys. Just pair them with a true 22" front. Like a Razr 2. The 21" Knarly is really nice and i have never gotten stuck with them and they hold a good line as well. They are just big for a 21.

OK, thanks for clearing that up.

Now here is the deal and you tell me what you think...

I did my suspension which corrected my ride height. So I had to go back to a 20/21 combo for my frame rake to be right.

I'm real happy with that because it gives me the choice of 20/21 combo, 21/22 combo or 22/23 combo and I never have to touch my preload.

Now I have a set of 22" GNCC fronts that will go at least another set of rear tires.

So those are going to require a tall 20" or a 21" to make a combo.

Something like a 21" GNCC or 21" Knarly... or something that runs big for a 20" rear tire.

I only really like Kenda Knarly & Kutter XC, Holeshot HD, Maxis Razr & iRazr, 21" GNCC's or Razr2/X-Rex rears.

Nothing else really interests me that much.

21" GNCC rears seem to be about 20.5" or more. Kenda specs the 21" Knarly at 20.9". Seems like either would work, with the Kenda being much cheaper... but you said they are very close to a 22".

I wouldn't want them to turn out too tall and make me end up forced to mess with the preload I don't want to touch.

they wont be too tall. I just didnt want you to pair them with a small 21" front tire or something similar. You should be ok with the 22 gncc fronts with the knarly rears. I for one like a much taller front tire than my rear which is how my setup worked for me. The 22" GNCC and 21" Knarley should be a good combo. If you dont like it, switch to a 22: Razr2 front and call it a day.

Cool then... I might just try that then.

The two rear tires are the same sorta general attempt at a rear tire... semi-rounded with wide spaced grooved lugs and a little more ground clearance. I am thinking the Kenda rubber compound might wear slower and the tread pattern might stay grippy a bit further into the tread wear.

Plus they are quite a bit cheaper... so it seems like a no-brainer... but is still not an easy decision.

I hear what you are saying on the front tires too. Last race was my first ride on Razr2 fronts and I liked them a lot. Best my quad has ever turned... but to be fair, my whole setup was completely different too.

So I don't know how much, if any of it, is difference between the Razr2 and GNCC fronts. Could just be my setup was the best it has been... or it could be the Razr rears where not pushing the front as hard as the little 20" GNCC's were.

That is a grippy little tire for a while... but talk about a waste of money worthless tire at the same time... man it is. They are so small and light the 450 lights them up despite the grip. They would make a good choice for a 2 stroke, or maybe a 400.... but not a 450... and the ground clearance sucks.

Lee it looks real good. I was thinking of doing an orange frame with white plastic for the show next year, but not sure I am building another one at all.

Thanks Dave! I'm going to go with white or all orange to mix it up next year. Hopefully you end up doing another one next year, always like seeing what you come up with. Is Parker still racing?

Who did you end up selling it to airmobile?

Parker is still racing, some. He will be at the Ironman, and so will I. I'll have to try to remember to look for you. Not sure yet, but most likely he will only race locals next year.

I sold it to a guy named Jeff Liesmann. Think he will be running the old man C class up there if the IATVHSS has a class for them????
