I have a 05 400ex and last night I went to change back brakes and of course ran into problems. Getting the old pads put was fine then I took a c clamp to push back in the drum and the part that has the mount and the indicator mark. The drum went back fine but the other part will not budge so there is not enogh room between it and the outside pad to fit over the rotar. I do not know if I need to loosen something or what but I need help fast thanks.

Ya i really don't want to do that to my new brakes and also it is over all the way so i would have to grind it down all the way to get it to fit.

did you compress the brake caliper? thats the only way I think it can be over by as much as youre talking

That is what i have to do and for some reason I can not get it too move. I can move the part that physicly pushes the brakes together but not the caliper part that has the wear indicator on it.

thats the part Im talking about....the plunger part. Open the brake lines and compress that all the way. then assemble and bleed the brakes. Just make sure you clean the rotors and pads thoroughly because if you have cheap pads they will literally crumble apart.
