If it's super clean you/he could probably get $1500-$2000 for it. Depending on how much he knows about the value of them you can kind of base your offer on that.

I would say $1500 would be a good bargain. I am in the middle of restoring my 86 to that condition and it is going to cost me nearly that just in parts doing my own labor/welding/powder coating so I don't think you could go wrong at $1500.

It looks good but its 24yrs old and i think if you were to buy it to sell it to make money .You wont make much if any IMO if it was a Trx250R there resale is alot higher then the ltr250 IMO i wouldnt give more then 1200 for it

85-86 is not a real desirable year, no powervalve in the cylinder and only a 5 speed plus it has the weak swingarm but it is definitely cherry. Way less performance parts made for them also.

You should talk to the guy from Flotek about the 85-86 motors. A simple porting job really wakes them up, even he says the 85-86 motors aren't to be slept on.

As far as parts they aren't as readily available but you can get pretty much everything for an 85-86 as you can for a 87+, you just need to know where to look.

can you give me a reference to him, where i can contact him, thats all this one would need, cosmetically its perfect, engine only needs porting

in CT that bike will defenitly sell for 1500-2000 based on the condition some people like them alot but some dont thats why an opinion is an opinion I personally like 87-92 more but in that shape and some nice motor work that bike will be sweet

that looks like a Q pipe to me, I could be wrong though

Definitely not a Q-pipe, all of Q's pipes bend left out of the cylinder.

its a fmf pipe, didnt i say that?

fmf pipes for the 85-86 are what Q recommends....just like any engine, some porting, reeds, and perhaps a carb (not sure for the 85-86's) would definately make it rip...

search on the qracer hq forum...some guy is making a drag bike out of an early lt250r...so power is possible out of them...

contact eric gorr of forward motion...he's on dirtrider.net as an advisor and writes performance books....alot of info on him on thumpertalk also....

he does awesome porting and head mods for a real, i mean real, good price..he did my first lt250r for me...and it kicked *****....
