why do brands make up random CC sizes for bike? like if its a 449cc, calling it a 450cc is ok. if its 397 calling it a 400cc is ok. but some brands have some odd ball stuff. like Gas Gas has the Wild HP 515cc but its actually a 492cc. why not call it a 500cc. and the KTM 505sx is acutally a 477cc. this just puzzles me! why not just call it a 480cc or a 500cc. 505 is just random?!?!?!

this has always been so weird to me. can anyone shead some light on this topic for me. lol

I have always wonder this...I remember when Yamaha had the 496...why not just call it a 500.

while we on the questions of why.....why do the call them apartments when they are so close together?

Always wondered the same thing, lol. I figured it was a marketing thing, or because one number sounds "cooler" :p

I like the KTM dirtbikes. They are 510cc. Early models were called 520's. Then they got bumped to 525s. (same displacement). Now they are 530's. Same 510cc though.

haha. thats funny. change the name becasue those goof balls that dont look at the specs will roll up next to your 510 and be like mine has 20 more cc's! lol. thats what sells to those goobers. more CC's.
