Head pipe Wrap

What everyone think of wraping your head pipe with exaust wrap. Ill be racing xc and getting it muddy alot but id like to keep the temp down for performance, and keep fuel temp down. Plus I keep getting my damn rear fender melted so I really want to do this. I here it shedds after a few washes so i dont want it to look like crap. I also considered jet hot coating it but it only drops it like 33 percent of the surface temp

ive done it to my 400 and a couple buddys 400s also and the only negative is ur head pipe could rust faster due to moisture being kept in.
