Where do you all put your Switches/lights when you replace the stock dash area?

Is buying one of those CNC dashes necessary or can you remount the switches in other places? If so, where?

I just got a Quadtech 250r hood to mount on mine and I am curious what I need to do.

That is what I mean by an aftermarket CNC dash.

i don't like my stuff to looked half assed so it was necessary for me...lol...i have seen people zip tye them to the cables, cut holes in their plastics, etc...

I have Maier front one piece race plastics w/CF hood scoop ...moved key to under hood with aluminum plate (it will screw into any hole - 2pc) removed all other lights (just unplug zip to frame) Also going to move my start button to plate as well to get off my bars.

I'm all about factory finish. I don't really like the idea of zip-tying lights to the frame, etc.

But stock, the key and neutral light are mounted in holes in the plastic. Could you do this in a different location?

Not saying to zip tye the lights to the frame...unplug lights and DONT USE. Zip tye connectors to frame. Yes you can move the key and other necessary items where ever you want if you make a custom plate bolted to the frame....some 4 stroke drag bikes have their radiator / spal , and nitrous power switches hooked to plate as well ..looks pretty trick almost like a top fuel dash

Oh, I see. I'd like to have my neutral light thought...

Any pictures of the mounts you're talking about? Thanks for the help!

flyboy go to the 300 forum and search there for this topic. I just used a forstner bit and put holes in plastics just in front of the gas tank on the right side and mounted mine that way on my 300 back in the day. there are tabs on the ignition switch and light holder to hold them in just like there oem location. Just drill a hole and then take a small file and make a little groove where the locator part of the igniton is which doesnt allow it to spin while turning on or off. Very simple. I will be doing this soon to the fullbore front fenders I just got for my 400 also. Just have to remember that if you drill the holes while the fenders are dont go through the tank!

Modquad has one too. Not sure if this is what you mean by a cnc dash, but it's what I have, and it looks great.

These are really old pics, and show it without an aftermarket hood, but I have a hood now, and this works just fine.

What model and bend bars are these and who makes this dash? I like it. Where did your key go?

Thanks for the replies. guys. I think I
m going to have to spend the cash to get the Aftermarket dash panel.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
roxspeedfx.com has them
and Modquad does too. That's all I know so far. They seem pretty simple, but I don't know if it'd be worth my trouble to try to custom make one.

400ex28,
Did you mount your aftermarket dash/bar-clamp under the bar pad? Or did you relocate the key? I can't really tell.

Here are the items I got for it. Can't wait to get it together next week. :D

Billet Bar Clamp w/ key switch:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360195067815&viewitem=&category=43971
Pro Taper square handlebar pad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pro-Taper-ProTaper-Red-Bar-Pad-CRF250-CR450F-CR125-XR80_W0QQitemZ230387522586QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotor cycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item35a42a9c1a
Quadtech C/F hood

And some replacement levers that are Billet. (My stockers were worn.)

All cost me about $170. Not too bad I think...
