I have noticed that allot of you have been wanting your Quad's color changed in Photo Shop. Well I am going to attempt to show you how (at least how I do it). This is for Photo Shop 6, I can not speak for 7.

First start off with a good picture, the better the resolution the better it will turn out. I am going to show you how to change the color of the fenders on my Rancher. I will start off with this picture because it is easy show the steps with.

Now go to IMAGE and then EXTRACT

Now it is time to Extract what you want to change the color. First put a check in the box beside of smart highlighting (this makes the extracting easier). Then Highlight around the plastic (or whatever you want the color changed) and anything that you don’t want the color to change then highlight around it like I did the warning sticker on the fender.

Now use the Paint Bucket and fill the area in a solid color like so...

Now click on Preview and see if this looks like everything that you want to change the color and it should look like this.

Now click OK and you will be left with the remains of what you extracted out. Now go to SAVE AS and save this picture as a different file name (that way you don’t loose the original picture) All right now go to OPEN and OPEN the ORIGINAL picture that you extracted from. Now you will have the original and the extracted image showing...like so.

Now go to the MOVE icon (second one in the box on the left, looks like an arrow) and take the extracted image and move it to the ORIGINAL picture to where it is placed directly over the original to where you can not tell the difference.

Now in your original you should have the original picture as the background and the extracted as LAYER 1.

Now go to IMAGE, ADJUST, then CHANNEL MIXER

Now here is the part that you will just have to fool with until you get the color you want. Just adjust the SOURCE CHANNNELS until the desired color is reached. I changed the fenders to Orange and Red (the two other colors you can get from factory).

I know there are other ways to do this and this is the way that I was taught FIRST and is the easiest. I hope this helped some people out and if any one else has another way that they feel is easier then let us know. Have fun everyone and let’s see some of your work!
