My suggestion:

buy a mask for your mouth. LOL. Get the disposable kind for cheap, and wear 2 at once.

or.. enhale the smoke, wait. and expect a somewhat high feeling. haha

im doin some insane grooving on some Razr Mxs, tryin to make a really good loam tire. Il post pics of it next time im out doin it. Every single lug is modified in some way haha

10-26-2009, 06:38 PM
im thinking. do the sides like theres. every other knob in the middle row do a side ways cut acrose, then do the back sides like the outter sides and maybe a random cut here and there.

nah i wouldnt do that...i switched to razr cross fronts they are kinda softer and hook 10x better. i would leave the fronts alone. i aint seen wimmers ever grooved so maybe thats the best setup

yea thats what i was thinking. i just got this full set last year on wheels for a good deal, but when these wear out im getting the same set up there running on my wheels. thanks for all your help man.

no prb man, but wimmer is running the yellow label razrs the soft compounds and still has them grooved so thats a super soft after they are grooved. they get a new set every race so y not just cut em up and wear em out 1 race :D

Once you do a set of tires with a groover, you'll be wondering why you ever bothered with the grinder. I can groove a set in about 20 minutes...no smoke, no mess. Also, grooved tires will last about half as long as a set of non-grooved tires.

Oh yeah, it's all the difference in the world. Much more forward bite. I wouldn't run my Razr's any other way.

$59.99 + shipping. Comes with blades and a head...

Best way to do it. Using a grinder can really trash your tire......Making a weak spot where you burn the hell out of it... Trash one tire and you could have bought the groover that you WILL use again....

I'm running a set of Maxxis XC. They are 100 times better grooved. Copied the ITP GNCC Pattern. Took about 45 mins or so for both tires.

The best way to groove front razors is to cut the middle of all the Xs out. thats how wimmer been running them for a few years.

From what Im seeing there grooving them to look like a holeshot. So why not save time and buy a holeshot to start with? They already hav the groove in the middle of the tread.

razrs are 49.99 ea. holeshots are more expensive and way softer

i never liked the razrs they had no bite in the corners compared to the holeshot...idk if its the profile of the tire or the actual tread , looks like doug and dustin are trying to combat this with some grooving...anyone else would pay a bit extra and run holeshots, much better tire...much more grip in the corners IMO...

To my experience holeshots are a great tire for about 4 or 5 rides. Then the tread starts ripping off and they dont hold worth a crap. Like i said they hold awesome for a few races for me. but only a few races. Razrs last me 2 seasons. alot cheaper that way lol.
