what tool do you use to get bolts of to find top dead center.

Why do you want to adj. the valves.....?? hard start....???. Make sure when you line up the crank to the T mark that the cam lopes are down.... and you have play in the rockers. If you don't have play in the intake valves either at TDC or 180 out just pull the head and put intake valves in it. I learned that...... I kept loosing my lash and the valves were going up in the seats.

I usually adjust to zero lash when the engine is fully warmed up. Never had any problems this way.
