I searched the 450 carb thread but never found a post that seed what a stock 05-450 carb jetting is.
It talked a lot about what to change it to but not what the stock jetting is.

Thinking the pilot is 48 and main 170 but not sure..

Thanks

The 48 slow sounds right but I think the stock main is closer to about a 118. The 170 sounds more like a main to use with the 400 engine.

Ok thanks guy's.
The reason I asked was cuz I put a 05-450 carb on my 400ex.
It seems to run good on the stock jetting though.
I have a 07 ex bored to 416, 12:0 je piston, rec P&P and stage two cam. Stock head pipe (welds ground) and WB MX4 slip on and the air box lid off, stock air filter, on U4.2 race fuel.

I'm thinkin that it may be best to take it to Rage and have them put it on the dyno and get it tuned up right.

That would take all the guess work out.

What do you think?

Heres a pic of the new plug. I put the plug in Friday and rode Saturday about an hour of hard mx ridding.
Then I just did the run stop test and puld the plug.

Am I too rich or lean?

This is what it looked like.

You can't do the run stop with a used plug. Your reading is all mixed up there.

you really need a brand new plug to do the run kill test. and it depends on where you wanna check the plug at. wot? 1/2 throttle. but with the pic it looks to me like i see a tid bit of gray. could be the pic though.

Ok I'll do a new plug test tomorrow. I'm suppose to be looking at the porcelain center and not the rim of the plug Correct?

I think it’s a tad bit lean cuz the center is white.

it looks a bit lean to me, if it was me doing the jetting i would go with 1 main bigger and see how it looks. just my .02 though. steve

If I took it Rage and had them dyno tune it, what dose that consist of. I've never had one dyno tuned before and is it worth the money?

Seems to me a lot of people do jetting adjustments and it's hit or miss. Without knowing if it's really where it is supposed to be.

Just wondering.

Rage is only 30 miles from my house.

Rage is only 30 miles from my house. If you're an internet jetter and basically happy when things are close enough from what people tell you, then you can benefit a lot. If you actually know what you're doing and meticulously tune all parts of the carb and know how to check it then in my experience it's pretty much a waste. I've had two friends take machines in after I tuned them and both were dead on. Cool to see HP numbers. One was a 99 HD 80ci with a bunch of work making 97HP. The other was fairly stock Raptor, not as exciting.
