After the timing is set there is obviously 2 ways the cam can be mounted on the gear. With the lobes either pointed down or up. I thought they were suposed to be down and I asked about it in my project thread and someone else told me the same thing. Well I stopped by the honda shop while I was in town and the mechanic wasnt there so I talked to a sales guy. He told me that the lobes are suposed to be pointed up, not down. Im not sure about this now. I dont feel like starting it and busting my valves or breaking my new piston so how is it suposed to be?

Either way will work, doesn't matter but down will make your life easier.

Ok well Im going to take you guys words for it and leave it down. Seems like when you ask a reputable shpo a question like that they should be able to give you a strait answer.

it is definatly down. i have replaced the cam in mine twice and rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up. the lobes go in facing down. the sales guy is not the guy to ask. the mechanic will tell you they go down, as will anyone that knows the ex motor.

HAHA, nice.

Well at TDC they should be pointing whichever way has the valves closed. But better ask and be safe than sorry. You'll have to post a video of it when you get it back together and fired up.

Definitely, I will post wheelie vids, and probably a few burnout vids before I yank these old tires off.

You said it yourself, you talked to a sales guy

Sales guys = don't know anything, but they talk like they do.

First upgrade should have been a repair manual. Where did you get all your torque specs?
