new battery storage??????????

i just bought a brand new battery for 70 bucks yesterday. then i put the fluid in it and started taking my old one off.while i was taking it off i found out why everything was messed up.there was a wire loose.now i got a new battery and dont know what to do with it?

its never been charged yet.should i leave it the way it is or put it on a trickle charger till i need it?should i leave it out in the cold or inside?

It should be charged and kept above freezing. It will have to be periodically charged to prevent sulfation

Charge the new one and put it in
Save the older one for a backup

Store in area that doesnt freeze.
