What will cool more motor more, a fan or a secondary oil cooler? Where do you get a good SPAL fan and how much do they cost? Which is easier to install and what do you recommend? THANKS

Im rebuilding my top end with a 11:1 86mm an stg 2 hotcam w/ hd studs and hd timing chain with MLS gaskets

I was thinkin one of those transmition oill coolers like for your truck.
I wonder if one of those would work?

both! by secondary oil cooler, do you mean one that runs inline with the current cooler, or one that taps into the oil passages and cools the oil going to the top end? the spal fan is definitely easier to install than a four stroke tech style cooler, but the cooler is a lot more effective. i like my fan for slow riding though.. i never seem to have power loss from heat.

I got a pusher but reversed the direction it moves and I cant compare to a real puller but mine really blows haha

I was going to do one that cools before running over the top end. How do you wire the fan up and with heavy riding will the fan do me any good w/o a secondary oil cooler?

get one on ebay. get the puller, not the pusher. then just dremel out the center part of ur heat shield to fit the fan...

does anyone have any pics of the spal fan and installation? Also what do you wire the fan to? All it says is that its a 9V spal fan.
THANKS

you wire the fan to a thermostat or a toggle switch, so you can turn it on and off, i baught a rox dash for 30 bucks and i have a nice clean spot to mount the toggle switch. it relocates your neutral light your key and has a spot for a toggle. i have one on mine thats a pusher and its 5.5 inches, i have it in front of the cooler and it never over heated since i put it on. it moves around as much air as i would have moving at 50mph. it really moves some air. and since its in between the scoops and in front of the motor it works on the motor and the oil cooler too. i may get rid of the big fan and wire two of the like 3 inch fans on the back of the cooler. i think it would be cooler yet and it would be more protected, i have a chicken wire cage on mine (sounds redneck but it looks clean, lol!) to protect it and i still have to stop and pull a twig out of it or a big glob of mud, althow it dices mud up good most of the time. i just think it will work a little better

it looks kinda chincy but i couldnt find a way to do it any better than it is. mainly the reason that i want the smaller fans.

i guess thats what you get when you dont read the whole posting...oops. i made it work the best i could and it works just fine for now.
